Why Mater Amabilis?

Mater Amabilis is a title of Our Lady in the Litany of Loreto (Mother Most Amiable).

Mary, under the title of Mater Amabilis, is our patron and our model. Our prayer is that our children may always see us as “mother most amiable” and that the Mater Amabilis curriculum and all those who use it and support one another in it, will assist in fulfilling that role.

The inspiration for the name Mater Amabilis is the Catholic parish of the same name located in Ambleside, England, where Charlotte Mason lived and taught.

Who we are

The authors of this program are Kathryn Faulkner, British mother of three, and Michele Quigley, American mother of ten: two mothers an ocean apart yet bonded in friendship by their love of the Catholic Faith and mutual respect for Charlotte Mason.
