Level 1B (Age 6 to 7) SCOPE AND SEQUENCE
Introductory Year – US: Grade 1 / UK: Year 2

  • Focus on acquisition of basic skills of reading, writing, number and oral narration.
  • Begin serious study of religion, history of the child’s own nation, geography and nature
  • Tales, fables and classic children’s literature
  • Introductions to picture study and classical music
  • Optional foreign language
  • All books read aloud to the child.

Level 1A (Age 7 to 9) SCOPE AND SEQUENCE
US: Elementary – Grades 2 and 3
UK: Primary – Years 3 and 4

  • Continuing focus on the development of basic skills.
  • Begin the transition to reading independently and writing some narrations.
  • English Language lessons
  • Continue the studies begun in Level 1B
  • Start a foreign language.
  • Begin systematic study of ancient history
  • Greek mythology, tales and classic children’s literature
  • Geographical focus Europe and Asia
  • Studies of maps, weather and environments
  • Formal science study begins with astronomy and botany
  • Artist and composer studies

US: Advanced Elementary – Grades 4 and 5
UK: Advanced Primary – Years 5 and 6

  • Lesson books to be read independently.
  • Regular written narrations.
  • Focus on saints and Our Lady.
  • Study history of another country (Britain or America)
  • Continue study of ancient history
  • Greek and Roman mythology
  • Shakespeare
  • Classic children’s literature
  • Geographical focus the Americas and Africa
  • Science studies include nature, physics and human biology
  • Latin begun in second year
  • Artist and composer studies

US: Junior High – Grades 6 and 7
UK: Early Secondary – Years 7 and 8

  • More advanced material than Level 2
  • Further study of history of own nation
  • Bible history
  • Survey of world history
  • Classic literature and Shakespeare
  • Chemistry, electricity, magnetism and inventions
  • Continue modern foreign language and Latin
  • Artist and composer studies
