THE NATURAL WORLD<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

A year\u2019s study of the natural world, concentrating on insects, birds and plants. Each week, students will read from living books on the term\u2019s topic, as well as perform simple demonstrations or experiments related to the week\u2019s reading..

\n

Time requirement:<\/b> Two weekly lessons of approximately 30 minutes. One day, you will read about the topic, and the next lesson will involve an activity or experiment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Teacher involvement:<\/b> You will need to work with your child for these lessons<\/span><\/p>\n

Building Foundations of Scientific Understanding <\/b>by Bernard Nebel<\/span>
\n<\/span>This course covers the concepts in his B – LIFE SCIENCE thread. The book offers further activities and guidance for educators in developing scientific inquiry regarding these concepts with students. If followed closely, the activities can take the place of the scheduled activity book and kits.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Nature Anatomy<\/b> by Julia Rothman<\/span>
\n<\/span>This lovely book offers hundreds of beautiful pieces of art illustrating countless concepts, collections, and observations throughout the natural world. We have scheduled it to accompany the science and geography lessons throughout Level 1. It is not essential, but as a single book, it does a lot of heavy lifting! <\/span><\/i>
