American Government and Economics
American Government and Economics is a four-year course introducing students to American Government, Economics, and Civics. If a student completes all four of the courses, we recommend awarding 0.5 credit in Economics, 1.0 credit in American Government, and 1.0 credit in Civics.
- American Government and Economics I
- American Government and Economics II
- American Government and Economics III
- American Government and Economics IV
- Lesson plans by book for each portion of American Government and Economics I-IV
- Introduction to Economics (0.5 credit over four years)
- American Government (1.0 credit over four years)
- Civics with Plutarch (1.0 credit over four years)
Alternative – American Government (Half Credit)
This half credit American Government course is a good choice for students who do not want or need a full year of government. It is still a challenging course with a focus on primary source readings, but those readings are broken up into shorter assignments and supported with a few additional texts to put them in historical context.
Students should not take this course if they are using the American Government and Economics I-IV above as most of the primary source readings are the same.
- American Government (0.5 credit)
Financial Literacy & Society
Financial Literacy & Society is a course designed to provide personal financial literacy with additional studies in how financial choices impact society.
It may be taken in addition to the American Government and Economics I-IV above, though you would want to substitute something else for Centesimus Annus as it appears in both sets of lesson plans.
